Dear Family,
I am a 22 year old student from the Canary Islands (Europe), currently on my third year of Sociology at the
University. I consider myself an adaptive person, I love to read, to travel and see new places. I love the outdoors,
animals, horse and bike riding, canoeing, hiking... etc. I enjoy films, painting, music, video and table games. I don’t have any kind of health problems.
One of the reasons I chose “Sociology” as a career is because I truly enjoy learning about different cultures, and I
have a very special interest in China [I even bought myself a book to try and learn Chinese on my own (didn’t work)]. But I hope that living there for a while I may be able to improve and learn a little bit of your language.
I am really looking foward to live in China, get to immerse myself in the culture.I feel awkward saying how I perceive myself, but I in three words; honest, shy and open minded. I’m clean, healthy and easy going as well.
My previous experience as an AuPair, I look care of four brothers in Dublin (Ireland), two boys and two girls, the experience was a bit hard because it was a single mother with four children but we managed to. I also lived with a host family from Grand Rapids (MI, United States) sometimes I had to take care of two brothers, one girl who was 11
and her brother (8), they lived in the country side and were very shy just like me, but we got used to each other and ended up being very close.
I love being an AuPair because I get to know a new country, all mixed with the feeling of being home with a family... which I think it is a nice combination, familiarity with the new or unknown.
As a mother language I said Spanish, since I was born in Spain and so I speak it, because I went to school here, but I have been abroad to the United States and Ireland, I was living in Ireland for such a long time that English became
my first language for a while, dreaming, speaking, thinking and writing in English... then I came back to Spain and I am speaking Spanish again. But I consider myself bilingual. :)
Greetings from the Canary Islands. Hope to hear from you soon.
Dacil.
